Description
Wave Armor Floating Dock Sections and Layouts for Southwest Florida
A Wave Armor floating dock is not a single fixed platform. It is a modular system of rotomolded polyethylene sections, corners, wedges, ramps, and gangways that bolt together into a layout fitted to your seawall, water depth, and how you use the water. Because the dock floats, it rises and falls with tide and season instead of holding your boats and gear at one fixed height.
Rotomolded polyethylene will not rot or splinter like wood, and it does not need the sealing and board replacement that wood docks demand in Florida sun. MacDuff designs custom layouts for canal, river, and lake homes across Southwest Florida, then quotes the sections, connections, and anchoring as one installed system. You are buying a layout, not a single wedge at checkout.

How a Layout Comes Together
Most layouts start with a straight run along the seawall. From there, sections turn into T docks and finger piers, open slips for PWC ports and boat ports, or a wider platform at the end for sitting and swimming. A lower deck section makes a swim platform at water level. Gangways and ramps bridge the gap from the seawall to the floating sections, so the walk stays steady as the water moves.
A layout often grows around what you already park. Add a PRO MAXX 6 PWC Port on a port mount corner, set a Kayak Launch with 2 Rails off a side section, or shade the finished dock with a ProTectR canopy sized to the port below. See our boat docks page for how installed dock projects come together, and picture the run, the turns, and the swim platform as one drawing before any section is ordered.
That is the point of a modular system. The layout is drawn for the lot in front of us, in the width the canal allows and the depth the water gives, instead of forcing a stock rectangle onto your shoreline.
Why It Fits Florida Saltwater and Sun
Southwest Florida docks deal with saltwater, strong sun, and water that changes with tide and season. A floating dock rises and falls with the water, keeps a steady step onto boats and ports, and keeps its deck off a fixed piling height. Rotomolded sections will not rot or splinter like wood, which matters where sun and salt work on a dock every day.
Modular sections can be unbolted and moved for storm preparation in many layouts, which gives you options a fixed dock does not. No dock should be sold as hurricane proof, and we will not sell it that way. MacDuff designs layouts for waterfront homes across Cape Coral, Fort Myers, and the wider Southwest Florida coast, in Lee, Charlotte, Sarasota, Collier, DeSoto, and Polk counties.
Mounting, Anchoring and Compatibility, Checked by MacDuff
Anchoring is part of the design, not an afterthought. The right method depends on water depth, bottom, seawall, and how much the layout can move. MacDuff checks anchoring, connections, gangway and ramp transitions, and port mount corners during the site review, then states the anchoring and connection package on the written quote. Compatibility with PWC ports, kayak launches, and swim platforms is confirmed against the sections in your layout.
How MacDuff Installs It in Southwest Florida
Every project starts with a free on-site estimate. We review the property and shoreline, talk through the layout, explain the permit path, including Florida DEP, county, and HOA review as applicable, and then provide a written quote. Dock install timing is typically discussed at the estimate, because material lead times and permit review shape the schedule. We do not promise a specific timeline as guaranteed.
We install across Lee County waterfront homes like yours, and that local experience goes into how the dock is anchored for your canal, river, or lake.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a floating dock cost in Cape Coral?
It depends on layout size, anchoring, and permits, so MacDuff quotes it in writing after a site review. If you bring a licensed Florida marine contractor written estimate on equivalent scope, MacDuff will beat that written estimate by $150. That is our $150 written estimate beat promise, on the same scope, not a different dock.
Can you add a PWC port or kayak launch later?
Yes, the system is modular. Sections and port mount corners can be added or moved in many layouts, and MacDuff confirms the new connection and anchoring on a written quote before the change is made.
How long does installation take?
Installation timing depends on materials and permit review, and it is discussed at the estimate. MacDuff will give you the expected window for your layout in writing, with no guaranteed number of days promised in advance.
